What is Epigenetic Health?

Ever wonder why some people look and act 10 years younger than they are?

A person’s Epigenetic Age matters far more than the number of candles on their birthday cake when it comes to estimating their health and age-related disease risks.

What is Epigenetics?

According to the CDC, epigenetics is the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work”.

Unlike genetic changes, epigenetic changes are reversible and change how your body reads a DNA sequence.

Let’s consider your DNA as your body’s book of recipes.

Your genes are what describe each step in the recipe and epigenetics are “the chef” who can change how to read the recipe by using little markers, like sticky notes that are adding or subtracting steps based on experiences and what you inherited from your parents.

3 Tips to Optimize Your Epigenetic Health

Actions we take reduces the amount of garbage the body has to deal with so that it can focus on recovery and repair.

  1. For your environment, choose air purifying plants to not only improve your indoor air quality, yet to also create a soothing environment that may improve mental health and productivity.

  2. For your behavior, take simple steps to “live and eat clean” such as avoid the use of pesticides and chemicals in and around the home and by eating the "The Clean 15" and/or organic whenever possible.

  3. A combination of environment and behavior is to get your sweat on! Whether it’s from physical activity or by taking a sauna, sweat is an easy way to get the garbage out!

Be sure to get the right testing and work with an epigenetic expert in order to optimize your epigenetic health.
